Digital Kitchen Display: From Paper KOTs to Smart Screens

Kitchen Display System (KDS)

Transform your kitchen operations with ParcelPOS Kitchen Display System. Orders appear on screen the moment they are placed. Track preparation status, manage priorities, and eliminate the chaos of paper KOTs. Pair with thermal printers for a hybrid approach that suits your kitchen workflow.

Key Benefits

Real-Time Order Display

Orders appear on the kitchen screen within seconds of being placed by the waiter. No delays, no lost KOTs, no illegible handwriting. The kitchen sees exactly what needs to be prepared, immediately.

Order Priority Management

See the age of each order at a glance. Orders that have been waiting longer are highlighted. Rush orders are flagged prominently. Your kitchen team always knows what to prepare first.

Preparation Status Tracking

Mark items as "Preparing" and "Ready" with a single tap. Waiters see the status update on their device in real-time. They know exactly when to go to the kitchen to pick up the food.

Reduced Errors and Waste

Digital KOTs eliminate misread orders, lost paper chits, and duplicate preparations. Every item is clearly displayed with its variants, addons, and special instructions. Accuracy means less food waste.

Separate Station Display

Configure separate displays for different kitchen stations. The hot kitchen sees only their items, the cold station sees salads and desserts, and the bar sees only drinks. Each station focuses on what matters to them.

How It Works

1

Set Up Kitchen Display

Install ParcelPOS on a tablet or screen in the kitchen. Configure it as a Kitchen Display device. Assign which item categories should appear on this display. Connect multiple displays for different stations.

2

Orders Flow Automatically

When a waiter sends a KOT from their device, items instantly appear on the appropriate kitchen display. Each order shows the table number, order type, items, quantities, variants, addons, and any special instructions.

3

Kitchen Prepares and Updates

Kitchen staff tap items as they start preparing them. When an item is ready, they mark it as done. The display updates, and the waiter is notified on their device that the food is ready for pickup.

4

Complete and Review

Once all items for an order are marked ready, the order moves to the completed section. At the end of the shift, review preparation times and kitchen performance metrics.

Key Features

Built specifically for this workflow.

Live KOT Feed

A continuously updating feed of all active KOTs. New orders appear at the top with visual and optional audio alerts. Orders are grouped by table and order type for clarity.

Order Age Timer

Each order displays a timer showing how long it has been waiting. Color-coded indicators show orders within normal time (green), approaching target (yellow), and overdue (red).

Category-Based Routing

Route items to specific kitchen displays based on their category. Starters to the cold station, main course to the hot kitchen, beverages to the bar. Each screen shows only relevant items.

Hybrid KOT Support

Use digital displays alongside thermal printer KOTs. Configure both for redundancy, or use printers as backup. The system supports a fully digital, fully printed, or hybrid workflow.

Modification Alerts

When a waiter modifies an order (adds items, cancels items, changes instructions), the kitchen display shows a clear visual alert highlighting exactly what changed. No confusion about updates.

Performance Analytics

Track average preparation time by item, category, and time of day. Identify bottlenecks in your kitchen. Use data to optimize station staffing and menu preparation processes.
